Journey Through Hallowed Ground Conference–Inspirational!

Today I had the honor of attending the Journey Through Hallowed Ground Annual Conference in Manassas, Virginia.  What an inspiring day!  The highlight was the vodcasts produced by Stonewall Middle School 6th graders as part of the Of the Student, By the Student, For the Student Service Learning Project.

The students, with support from their educators and parents, used primary source material to create short films about a historicial question that interested them.  Many conference attendees, myself included, were moved to tears by both the quality of the students’ work and its relevancy.

Leesburg’s Smarts Mill Middle School also participated in this project, and their films will be about Balls Bluff.  I can’t wait to see those vodcasts.
