Oatlands Barn Project

We just finished our May board of directors meeting here at Oatlands.  One major topic was the restoration of our 1821 brick bank barn.  The architecture firm of Li/Saltzman and their partners from local Virginia and Washington D.C. historical, archaeological and engineering firms will be at Oatlands this summer to start a year and a half project.  The end product will be an interpretive hub for Oatlands and Loudoun County/Northern Virginia agricultural history centered around the barn building itself.  Li/Saltzman transformed the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, among many other projects.  We expect our barn project to be an amazing and intense experience for visitors when complete.  And while the project is in progress, we’ll welcome people to come out and see the archaeology being done.
